Central Essex Bowling Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2017

We would like you to join us in our regular programme of bowling activities in this special year of celebrating our 90th birthday.

Come and see, and try !!

Please note that this club is definitely still active in 2017, but the web pages are under review.

No experience required

Central Essex Bowling Club is looking to recruit new members. We are situated in King George’s Playing Fields, Ingrave Road, Brentwood. CM13 2AQ. We have two lovely greens in beautiful surroundings. There is social bowling on most weekday afternoons during the season, which runs from May to early October. For those who want it, there is more competitive bowling in several local leagues. Coaching is available, free of charge for those who would like it. We have an excellent Clubhouse with light catering facilities and a bar.

Facilities

There are two greens at King George’s (that is TWELVE rinks), maintained to a high standard by Brentwood Council. After the official Green Inspection 2017, our greens were rated ‘condition excellent’, one of only two of the 15 greens in ECBA Group 4 to reach this standard.

There is a spacious pavilion with a bar and a generous kitchen area, ladies’ changing rooms and gent’s toilets. The pavilion veranda has undercover outdoor seating, and there are various benches around the greens. A spacious gents’ changing area is provided in a separate building.

Activities

We participate in two men’s leagues and two ladies leagues, we play friendly matches both at weekends and midweek and also have club days during the week. We run a range of internal competitions and have organised two ‘Away Days’  to play clubs further afield (Herne Bay and Thanet, Kent for 2017)

There are social events throughout the year, especially out of season, including weekly bridge and whist meetings and monthly coffee mornings.
